In this area, there are at least seven destinations that you must visit.
1. Kuta Beach
The first to be well-known in the Mandalika area is Kuta Beach. Its name is often compared to Bali’s Kuta Beach since the two beaches have the same name. However, Lombok’s Kuta Beach is claimed to be better than Bali, because it is cleaner and quieter. Kuta Beach and its area is now the most developed beach compared to other beaches in Mandalika. The facilities are quite complete, and is very close to the Great Mosque of Nurul Bilad which President Jokowi inaugurated.
2. Fresh Beach
There is Seger Beach with a cape-like shape at the east of Kuta Beach, which follows the popularity of Kuta Beach because it has an annual event. The so-called-Bau Nyale Festival takes place in this beach’s area. Every once a year, locals flock to Seger Beach to look for the incarnation of Putri Nyale’s worms at Seger Beach. Likewise, on this beach, there is the monument of Princess Nyale which adds to the beautiful decoration.
3. Serenting Beach
Serenting Beach is located in the east of Seger Beach, with a longer coastline than Seger Beach. Serenting Beach is also usually an area that is included in the Bau Nyale Festival. If Seger Beach is too crowded with locals and tourists during the Bau Nyale Festival, they would spread over to Serenting Beach which is no less beautiful.
4. Merese Hill
You could say Merese Hill is the best spot to enjoy the view of Mandalika from a height, which is located between Serenting Beach and Tanjung Aan Beach. The journey to go up the hill is also fun and enough to make you have a little bit of exercise. This hill is also quite wide in area, so there are many beautiful places and backgrounds to take pictures. Looking towards Tanjung Aan or to Serenting Beach, are all evenly beautiful.
5. Tanjung Aan Beach
To the east of Merese Hill is Tanjung Aan Beach, with white sand stretches along the coastline that curves like a crescent moon. Running along the beach must be fun. Tanjung Aan Beach is a tourist’s favorite because it is quieter than Kuta Beach. The scenery around this beach is more beautiful with a swing by the sea, it is a favorite for tourists taking photos.
6. Batu Payung (Umbrella Stone)
At the eastern side of Tanjung Aan Beach there is a unique natural phenomenon called Batu Payung, a rock formed naturally by erosion, scouring of seawater, and scouring of wind for thousands of years. So this phenomenon of coral formation is shaped like a fungus. That’s why, hence, the locals call it an umbrella bud and that has been the idea why it is called Batu Payung or Umbrella Stone.
7. Gerupuk Beach
At the easternmost tip of Mandalika, there is Gerupuk Beach, the best surfing spot in Mandalika. At Gerupuk Beach, there are several surf camps for tourists who want to vacation while surfing and trying out the waves. The wave levels here are quite varied, so even beginners can play here. But if you do not want to surf, that’s okay, because Gerupuk Beach can be enjoyed in many other ways just like other beaches in Mandalika.
