4 Tall Buildings Around the World
Humans are fascinated by heights and have been building taller and taller buildings throughout history. Here are four tall buildings around the world where you can have a bird’s-eye view of the city.
- Burj Khalifa, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Completed in 2009, Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest structure in the world. Visitors can take the elevator repair Washington DC up to the observation deck on the 124th floor and see all the way over to Iran on a clear day. The impressive tower contains a mix of office, hotel, and residential space. Be sure to visit the Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the tower, at night when the water is lit up by thousands of lights.
- Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China
Shanghai Tower is a mixed-use building containing shops, restaurants, hotels, and an observation deck on the 121st floor. The unique structure incorporates sustainable elements in its construction, such as double-layered insulating windows designed to lessen the need for air conditioning, as well as a system that recycles rainwater for use in toilets.
- One World Trade Center, New York City, United States
The tallest building in the United States, One World Trade Center contains 94 stories and was completed in 2012. Tenants of the building mostly include businesses, but there are floors for visitors including an observation deck providing wonderful views of the city. The 71 elevators located in the tower travel as fast as 23 miles per hour, carrying passengers quickly through the levels.
- Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Petronas Towers consist of two skyscrapers containing 88 floors. Officially opened in 1999, Petronas contains offices, shops, an art gallery, and a philharmonic hall. There is a sky bridge connecting the two towers located on the 41st and 42nd floors.
