7 Must-Have Kitchen Features To Add When You Remodel
If you have plans to remodel your kitchen this summer or in the near future, consider incorporating a few unique and useful features into your design! Whether you’re remodeling for comfort, functionality, or sale, you won’t regret adding newer appliances and elements that will bring your kitchen to the next level. A few feature installations to consider include a coffee bar, a smart sink, an extra dishwasher, a walk-in pantry, a built-in refrigerator, an island, a spice rack, and cabinet lighting. Below are seven must-have features to add to your kitchen remodel!
1. Coffee Bar
Your kitchen is where you start your day, and coffee is how you make it through the day–so it’s no surprise that a coffee bar is number one on our list of must-have features to add when you remodel. A coffee bar acts as an extension of your existing countertop and creates more storage. This extra storage can be used for just about anything, but it’s typically used to store items like mugs, coffee beans, drink mixes, sugar packets, creamers, and more. If coffee is a big part of your life, it should be a big part of your kitchen, too. Adding a coffee bar will motivate you to make your own beverages rather than going to Starbucks every morning (and afternoon, let’s be honest)–which will save you time and money! As you make plans for your remodel, be sure to add a coffee bar to the list.
2. Smart Sink
A smart sink is another smart feature to add to your remodel! A smart sink allows you to save precious water and energy by automatically turning off after use. Most smart sinks can be controlled in three ways–touch, motion sensors, and voice-activation. If your hands are full of dishes or covered in flour, you can use voice-activation to start the water running with touching (and therefore contaminating) anything! Touchless and voice-activated smart sinks can help keep your kitchen clean and prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. If you’re remodeling your kitchen sometime soon, consider adding a smart sink to the layout!
3. Extra Dishwasher
A dishwasher is a must-have feature in any kitchen–and if you have a big family or tend to go through dishes quickly, adding a second dishwasher to your layout certainly can’t hurt! It also helps to cut down on the amount of time you spend cleaning and washing dishes. If you have a second dishwasher, it can act as the next piece of your coffee bar–with a portion of your funds going toward new dishes rather than water and electricity. If you plan on remodeling your kitchen in the near future and you have some extra space, add an extra dishwasher! You won’t regret it.
4. Walk-In Pantry
A walk-in pantry is not only helpful as an additional kitchen storage unit, but it’s also great for increasing the versatility of your kitchen layout! A walk-in pantry can serve as a space for you to store extra cooking equipment and appliances or as a hideout for when the kids are getting on your nerves! (Kidding–sort of.) Walk-in pantries are great for kitchens with limited cabinetry and drawer storage. If you could use an extra space to store cooking utensils, supplies, and snacks, add a walk-in pantry to your kitchen when you remodel this season.
5. Built-In Refrigerator
If you want your kitchen to feel more spacious and put-together, consider adding a built-in refrigerator when you remodel! A built-in refrigerator will give you extra cabinet and floor space by staying out of the way–out of sight, out of mind. Be sure to keep all of the food in your refrigerator organized as well, so that you aren’t wasting time moving things around every time you want to reach something. If you’re hoping to streamline your kitchen’s overall look and create some more open space when you remodel, installing a built-in refrigerator is the way to go.
6. Island
An island is a great way to add some extra countertop space to your layout and give your kitchen some personality. Islands can be designed in a variety of ways, so you can incorporate all of your favorite features and style preferences into your layout. If you plan on remodeling your kitchen this summer or anytime soon–and if you’re willing to spend a small amount of money on extra countertop space–consider installing an island!
7. Spice Rack
A spice rack is another great way to organize your kitchen! A spice rack allows you to store all of your spices, seasonings, and oils in one area, rather than having them scattered around the kitchen. The best part about a spice rack is that it won’t take up any extra floor space-you can stick it under the sink or on an inside wall of your cabinets. A spice rack makes your cooking experience more convenient, offers you more storage space, and creates an organized look.
