What to Bring With You to a Business Convention
As a new business owner, you need to promote your company aggressively or you will not have enough customers to survive your first year. As you explore search engine optimization, pay-per-click ads, and other online marketing tricks, don’t forget that in-person advertising is just as important. When you receive invitations to conventions within your industry, immediately accept them, and don’t forget these essentials.
Business Cards
Business cards are small pieces of paper that include your company’s name, logo, and address, as well as your name and email address. Keep a thick stack on each of your promo tables for visitors to take when they go. That way, they have your contact information without the hassle of writing it down in their phones.
Giveaways
Perhaps the most popular parts of any convention are the giveaways. Create a small item with your name and logo for visitors to take after visiting your table. These gifts can be as small as a pencil or as big as a T-shirt. Keep in mind how many people will attend the convention and how expensive your giveaways are when deciding who can have one. For example, if you bring stickers, all visitors get them, but if you bring mugs, only people who agree to buy some of your products get them.
Promotional Materials
Bring plenty of materials that explain who you are and what your company does. Print a sign with your name and logo to hang by your table, and create a display with photos of your employees and store. Have your marketing team design pamphlets and flyers that potential clients can take with them. These should include your address, phone number, email, product details, pricing, and information about what sets your company apart. If possible, include a small coupon.
Food and Water
Working at a convention is exhausting, especially if there is no air conditioning. Prepare by hydrating the day before and bringing plenty of water and snacks. While you should wait for a break to eat, feel free to drink before and after talking to people so that you stay focused and healthy.
Business conventions are great opportunities for promoting your business and networking with other members of your industry. To make sure your day is successful, make a list of what you need a few weeks in advance. If you have these critical items, you’ll be ready to meet your next biggest client.
